Student Attendance and Health

Attendance

All children are expected to attend school every day, unless there is a very good reason for them to be absent. Children who are ill or who have not fully recovered from illness should not be at school. If your child is unwell and unable to attend, parents/guardians are required to notify the school via a phone call or using the parent notified absence feature on PAM. Extended periods of pupil absence must be reported to the school.

It is a legal requirement that all unexplained absences will be followed up.

Sign In/Out

If Children arrive at school after the class roll has been marked, they are required to enter the school via the Office and be signed in by either a parent or staff member.

Also if it is necessary to collect children from school during school hours, for any reason, parents are required to visit the Office, and “Sign Out’ their child. It is a legal requirement that we have a written explanation for the variance in class attendance rolls.

Asthma / Anaphylaxis / First Aid

Staff at St Theresa’s participate in regular first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis education.

Medication

At St Therese’s staff will not administer medications to students without written consent from the child’s doctor AND parent.

Should your child need to receive medication during school hours a letter signed by your doctor stating the medication to be given, time and dosage will be required. Prescription medications provided in their original pharmaceutical packaging with the dispensary label are also an approved authority from the Doctor.

We are not able to administer any medication (including Panadol) without a Doctor’s signed instruction.

Along with the signed authority from the Doctor, you will also need to sign the Medication Authority form when handing over your child’s medicine.
